Today is the day that I've been waiting for since the beginning of this semester. My excitement was overwhelmed because this is my first time involved in community service work. My first expectation of what would be doing was actually either just cleaning an old folk's house or become one-day babysitters at orphanage. However, Miss Kelly told us that we were supposed to complete an assignment, namely AKPK: AIM project. The first briefing was provided by AKPK and AIM. In this project, we are required to guide small entrepreneur about the knowledge for how to create a successful business system and also to educate them about some financial planning about the business and daily expenses. The main reason why are we guiding them about some various modern business plans and system is because they are originated from a traditional background. We called them as 'sahabat', who are facing financial difficulties in their real life and needing for help to improve their living.
I was initially very shocked when we were asked to speak Malay to our 'sahabat' and prepared our report in Malay. What we have to do is to analysis their monthly financial flow and come out a budgeting plan for their personal finance and marketing plan which aim to help improve in their business. In addition, we were told that we should be humble in front of our 'sahabat' by not showing off luxury lifestyle or stuff. This project might mean nothing important to us, but it maybe a chance for them to change their current life and get rid of financial difficulties. We were told that we have to take it seriously and not fooling around.
